Charles A. Stromberg & Son Manufacturers of High Grade Guitars and Banjos 40 Hanover Street Boston, Mass Ser.No. 609 This guitar is guaranteed for a lifetime to the original purchaser if used properly. |
I have been the owner of this guitar for over 10 years, also , in the early 1990's I sold this guitar to Akira Tsumura for his prestigeous collection, to have later bought it back when Mr. Tsumura ran into financial difficulties. This guitar is refuted to have been owned by Tuck Van Lake, a New York area guitar player in the fifties. Rumors abound that Mr. Van Lake later claimed that this guitar was stolen from him in the early 1960's but attempts by me, including contracting the services of a private investigator, could not show any merit for these claims.
In the late 1980's this guitar was purchased from Umanov guitars in New York City, a highly acclaimed vintage instrument dealer by Steven Brown, a well respected dealer and luthier. Mr. Brown contracted with Mr. Eibert for the restoration, which took aproximately 2 years to complete. It was at this time, that I was involved in the sale of the guitar to Mr. Tsumura, via his agent Mac Yasuda.
This instrument was, at this time, inspected and deemed free and clear of defects in material and title by John Bernunzio, a highly respected dealer in Rochester NY. Mr. Bernunzio being hired by Mr. Tsumura to verify the authenticity of the instrument.
The bottom line, if you want a Master 400 cutaway, here is one for sale as shown and described.
